Studies for Fluid Movements is an experiment in sound design and spatialization. The installation aims to create ambiguous sonic textures and embed them in a subtle, meditative experience.
I sampled various percussive instruments, treated them with a variety of sound design techniques, and mixed them to form novel sonic textures that exist in a gray area between metallic and organic, liquid and solid, blending or tipping unexpectedly from one quality into another. The spatialization mirrors the unpredictability of the sound, following chaotic, ever-changing trajectories.
For this, I developed a custom algorithm that generates infinite movement patterns for the evolving sonic objects.
The installation was premiered at the AKUT concert series in Basel in 2022.
